Lovpune returned to San Antonio for a hometown performance at Rah Rah Room, marking the kickoff of her HOMECOMING Tour. The show followed the release of her single “Afterlife” and her selection as a featured music artist at SXSW 2026.

The San Antonio–born indie-pop artist drew a crowd of friends, family, and longtime local music veterans who have followed her evolution, from her time in the band Ion to her early solo work under her birth name, Mia Madden. The all-femme lineup included Trenzas, CNMN, and a rotation of DJs between sets, while art vendors on the outdoor patio offered handmade goods.

Both opening acts delivered brief sets but maintained a steady energy leading into Lovpune’s appearance. Ten minutes before her set, a tall, dad-like figure called the crowd, many of whom had wandered outside to wait, back inside with a booming yet friendly voice. Inside, the stage had been set with dense haze.

Lovpune performed alongside a bassist and drummer, blending live instrumentation with pre-produced loops and backtracks. Her set had elements of celestial synth-pop and dreamlike electronic music, anchored by a delicate, airy voice as she moved across the stage in a voluminous white skirt - a synthwave siren. Her lyrics explored themes of identity, relationships, transformation, and religious trauma.

At one point, she asked the audience if anyone had come with a lover, a prelude to her song “Tupaasho,” which reflects on healthy love. Her budding relationship with Paola Ossa, who directs her music videos and later that week won the Jury Award for Best Music Video at SXSW, has clearly placed her in a wonderful place.

The crowd, one of the largest Rah Rah Room has seen in recent months, called for an encore at the close of her set but was not granted a gracious extension. Still, Lovpune stayed to meet with fans and reflect on the experience of returning home.

“I had the most absolutely amazing time performing for a crowd of people I’ve known for so long,” she said. “It felt like everyone I’ve ever met in SA came out to support, and it filled my heart with so much deep gratitude to be from such an amazing, supportive city like San Antonio. Live music is not dead here and never will be.”
