The Red Clay Strays Return to San Antonio

The Red Clay Strays delivered a spiritual performance to a packed Frost Bank Center as part of their Grateful Tour.
Australia-based Sweet Talk opened the night, their country-rock/Americana sound setting the tone for the acts to follow.
Muscadine Bloodline came next, and the duo played like a polished act fully in command of the crowd, trading high-energy guitar riffs and layering in angelic harmonies that kept the audience locked in. They even threw in a surprise cover of Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle.”
Then the lights cut out. A dark red glow washed over the stage, and Brandon Coleman’s gritty, powerful vocals echoed as he performed “Demons in Your Choir,” the opening track off the band’s latest album, “Grateful.” From there, the Red Clay Strays never let up, playing through songs like “Ramblin’” and “Don’t Wanna Know,” with bluesy guitar solos and slide guitar woven throughout.
The crowd sang along to nearly every song, especially fan favorites “Do Me Wrong” and “Wondering Why.” Between songs, the band reflected on how far they’d come in San Antonio, looking back on their experience playing small venues like Sam’s Burger Joint.
The set built toward an encore of the viral hit “Wanna Be Loved” and “No One Else Like Me,” closing the night with an all-out jam session that sent the crowd home buzzing.
