The Canadian superstar, Abel Tesfaye, better known by his stage name The Weeknd, played to a sold-out crowd at the Alamodome last night. The show marked the last stop of his 2025 leg of the After Hours till Dawn tour, which has been ongoing since 2022. Supporting acts included DJ and Producer Mike Dean and Playboy Carti.

Dean opened the night with a setlist full of beats and sounds from his extensive catalog, before Carti took the stage with a short but intense set filled with pyrotechnic effects. The Weeknd’s production was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Collapsed buildings surrounded the stage, while a 24-foot-tall “sexy robot” statue rotated at the end of the catwalk with piercing lights erupting from her eyes.

Backup dancers representing the themes of its After Hours concept, exploring trauma and pain, flooded the catwalk and contorted to the rhythm of its first songs, “The Abyss,” “Wake Me Up,” and “After Hours.” Some speculate The Weeknd’s persona is coming to an end to begin a new identity, a closing era that was witnessed by over 43,000 people, who wore glowing wristbands, enhancing the show’s already spectacular laser and light production.
